Gatekrashör – Fear of Attack

Gatekrashör is a speed metal group hailing from Calgary, Alberta in Canada. Taking influence from 80’s bands such as Razor, Running Wild and Exciter, they play a distinctively old-school blend of highly energetic speed metal. “Fear of Attack” is their new EP, following two splits and a demo.

This EP has all the trademarks of an 80’s speed metal band; catchy as hell galloping riffs, mid-high pitched vocals, ripper solos, pounding drums and a nasty attitude dipped in cheese. The mix even has that old-school charm about it, sounding a bit crackly in parts yet still allowing you to hear the songs just fine.

There’s not really much else to say about this killer EP, I mean, it’s straightforward 80’s style speed metal, what more do you need to know? If you don’t find yourself headbanging and fistpumping along to songs like “Blastwave”, “Speed Metal Hammer” and “Heavy Metal Rangers”, then there is seriously something wrong with you! This is great no bullshit old-school speed metal and that’s all there is to it.

4/5
